Golden Commet or Rhode Island Reds
Golden Comet
🐔 Appearance
-
Hens: Golden-red to cinnamon body with lighter tail feathers
-
Roosters: Mostly white with red patches
-
Medium size with a single red comb
Because they’re sex-links, males and females hatch different colors — making them easy to sort.
🥚 Egg Production
Golden Comets are egg-laying machines:
-
Start laying around 16–20 weeks
-
Lay large brown eggs
-
Excellent winter production
-
Peak production in first 2 years
However, since they’re bred for heavy laying, they may have a shorter productive lifespan (often 3–4 strong laying years).
